Heads On Collision.

A year ago, I once stumbled across this chap when I was searching for some covers on YouTube. . .

Yeah, he may look like a dingdong but he ain't. This kid has pure awesomeness spelled on his forehead. This is Ed. He's a music enthusiast and he's doing it down right real! Would you expect something unpredictable after having a slight soundtrip of Mest's Jaded would trigger this guy to pop up on YouTube's related search results? (Haha! Talk about timing.)



So I added this guy up on Facebook and he shared some of his ideas and stuffs to me and I also did likewise. I envy this guy because he has already been stepping forward to his dream. He's fortunate he has the gadgets and gizmos to make covers. I know we are all having the same problems when it comes to choosing our dream career over a high-paying job but c'mon guys, you gotta give a hands up for Ed!


Some of us may love hearing dub-step music all of the time but seriously party people, wake up! What's life all about? Party rocking? Gotta get down on Friday? Birthday sex? More crappy beats than meaningful lyrics? It's a tsk yeah but hey, were thankful this guy exists.


He started as a simple listener and observant like we all are until artists like Linkin Park, Rise Against,Third Eye Blind, Three Days Grace, Green Day, Silverstein came in and poof!... Takuma Demon Reborn (Youtube ID) is now in the line and making a face in the world.


He came up with the idea of making covers because he was bored. (that's ok Ed, you ain't the only one.) So he chose to sing songs rather than playing guitar like we sometimes assume covers will be. He said that he's not good in guitars that's why he chose to cover songs this way inorder for him not to present himself as a poser. He jams with western music but little did we know that his sole inspiration was none other than our very own well respected OPM artist, April Boy Regino! (could you imagine that ladies and gentlemen? xD)



He may sing like a punk but he's very neutral when it comes to music. He even sang Mariah Carey's "One Sweet Day" once and was his first collaboration with XoCourtneyLynnXo  as a tribute for his friend's cousin's tragic death that they played the video in the funeral.



Onward to more blah blahs and chit chats. . .he later mentioned that he saved a lot of his money just to buy some equipments for his vids and not only did he spend them, he also gained a lot of subscribers, friends and fellow collabs in return. Unfortunately, he encountered problems with Youtube that resulted his first channel being banned and whatta bummer that was. (shame on you YouTube!)


He said that his parents also support him that they let they even gave their microphone to him when he was a kid. That microphone of his has evolved him into something new and distinctively radical person. I once promised to him that if ever I scooped up some greens and bought my own cam, mics, recording devices and the likes I would definitely make a project with him someday since we share the same likes and tastes in music. But before that I have to prove to myself too. The question is ...when?

This man says it all. Truly right you are Mr. Russell Howard, even I can no longer understand what's happening to the industry now. From those artists and lyrics that you've mentioned I also agree that they are worthy to be called crap. Here's a little bit of sense for those who are making nonsense.

Divergent music.

I'm not such a big fan of OPM (Original Pilipino Music) but there are artists out there which I think should get a big recognition from others and particularly, Filipinos. Based from my taste of music, they've been satisfying my taste buds ever since I started hearing their masterpieces and I figured that I should share some of them here.


1.) Maryzark

These guys are worthy for this spot. Usually, I don't like hearing OPM artists singing tagalog songs because they project the same worn-out images over and over and over again. Suddenly, I remembered that I purchased my first ever PULP magazine and read a review about them and their EP Return To Sender and then BANG! (laughs). Try hearing the song KAI (Kung Ako Ikaw) it contains an atmosphere of being alternative, a sprinkle of emo-ness and a little spice of  hardcore and plus they are using tagalog lyrics...




" Mahalin mo nalang kahit kunwari
Dalangin niyang makatingin sa langit
Naubos na ang sandali ng buhay niya
Kasing gulo ng isang
Pelikulang wala namang istorya
Natapos nang ikaw nalang ang bida
Di manlang nasabi na
Mahal na mahal mo siya... "

this made an exception to the songs that I usually listen to. Other songs that are worth to hear are "My Sweetest Enemy", "Suko" , "Andromeda" and my favourite lullaby from them "Ssshh..."




2. ) Mr. Bones & the Boneyard Circus

We all know foreign bands having their own edgy styles like Panic! At The Disco, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy etc. but you probably didn't know that we also have ours! This band is having an edge in the underground music industry for having somewhat like a horror, fantasy and zombie-esque kind of image (how's that for a change?). Bones del Rosario along with other members really got me going when I first heard their cover of Seal's Kiss from a Rose (OST of Batman Forever)...




"Baby, I compare you to a kiss from a rose on they gray.
Ooh, the more I get you, the stranger it feels yeah.
And now that your rose is in bloom,
A light hits the moon from the gray..."

and then I started hearing their other songs from then on. Other songs that you should hear from them are "Go Go Dance", "Twisted Boy", "Haunted Wonderland".




3.) Franco

I know they've been in a lot of shows and concerts and I also know that they are smoothly spreading their independent name from the underground scene. Franco reyes along with the other known members are dining with fame and respect. No wonder they've decided to make a super group, because they already knew from the start that they would achieve something more than just making alternative and reggae music... ----a hybrid! From all the singles that topped the charts, "Song for the Suspect" is my fave...

other awesome songs that are worth the hear are "Cast Away", "This Gathering", Stupid Me" and "Touch the Sky".




4.) Somedaydream

I'm very neutral when it comes to music. From Classic Symphonies of Beethoven down to     the soul-steaming depths of heavy metal's Black Sabbath. I'm quite sure that in between those poles lies a lighter side of art. Pop music is one of those things that talks about people in general. It could be about love, despair, frustration, dreams, or even life itself. Pop is modernized nowadays through the use of technology and thus the genre synthpop now exists. This guy, Rez Toledo, is one of the many artists that you could think of when it comes to OPM mainstream success. Somedaydream may be a simple name to construct but  it really made a remarkable peak in the OPM industry more particularly, the teenagers. "Sing this Song", my first favourite hit from his has caught my attention through it's jumpy beat and pleasant lyrics...




"And I'm leaving on a jet plane.
For all I know when I get back
You won't be there to kiss me
Won't you miss me..."

5.) Typecast

I've been admiring their music since the launch of their independent first album until their 4th present album. They've been known a lot because of their emo appeal and post-hardcore influence to their fans and not just in the Philippines but also in other foreign countries in and outside of Asia. These Pioneers of music are sometimes mistaken by others as an American band. They also reigned in Singapore and Malaysia to be labelled as one of the most influential rock band of South East Asia. I've been listening lately to "Kono Yakusoku" (which means "This Promise" in English).




"Plant my eyes onto the ground
And I will never make a sound
'Cause this is something I believe
That you'll be coming home to me..."




I would personally say that this is my favourite band and so I would recommend you to hear more endearing songs from them like "Last Time", "Clutching" ,"Will You Ever Learn", "Boston Drama" and a serenading song called "When The Sky Starts Falling".

The Avengers pwn.

Total epicness. These are the only two appropriate words to describe this awesome movie. I have to admit that Marvel has yet again left a big awe to their fans and viewers as they release their most anticipated block busting movie that we all have been waiting for.

For those who doesn't have any idea who The Avengers are and why they exist, here are the basic things you have to know .

The Avengers are composed of Marvel's most iconic comic book-based characters that creators Stan Lee and Steve Ditko made along alongside Jack Kirby (notably I consider them heroes when it comes to imaginative art). The Avengers primarily consist of 6 members. Captain America, a newly enhanced super soldier which by the help of a serum made him the leader of the group. Iron Man, the co-founder of the group and the foot-step follower of his father who seemingly the reason why Captain America exists. Hulk, a once brilliant doctor accidentally exposed himself to gamma radiation and turned him into a green, mean fighting machine. Thor, a god of his own world that wields the power of thunder and lightning by the means of his bestowed hammer. Hawkeye, an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. highly skilled in the art of archery and swordsmanship. ( although it's not shown in the movie, he also aliased himself as the Ronin). Black Widow, also an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. that excels in handling guns, gadgets and close quarter combat. (By the way, Scarlett Johansson puts justice with her role.) Nick Fury, The leader of S.H.I.E.L.D. who happens to be the reason why The Avengers are now as one. (that's right! it was all his idea).

Now, I won't tell you everything about the movie but I will certainly spoil some parts of it just to clarify the things that you've seen in the official trailer. First, why is there a box and what's inside it? Surely, it's obvious that there's no bunny rabbit inside but instead pure power. This power has the ability to grant immortality or unleash devastating chaos all over the earth. The piss-off part there is that Loki,adopted brother of Thor( yeap! He's the bad guy here) wants it so bad! Why did Iron Man, Captain America, Thor made a little conflict with each other? Obviously, it's a test. A test of who is willing to sacrifice his life for the world, a test wherein to know who will give up his pride for his fellow team mates, and lastly a test of trust and intellect.  For the last spoil, Who pwns (owns) Loki's sorry butt and makes his/her a star in this movie? Well, if you'd listen closely to what Tony Stark said in the trailer it's Hulk. Why is he the star here? It's my opinion so the answer to that varies from person to person. If you really wanna know why then better watch the movie now! I promise you, it's worth the spend! You'll surely laugh,thrill,scream, jump up and down all the way to the end of the movie! Trust me! It's a jaw dropping, eye-popping,heart-pounding, armpit-sweating hell of a show! . . .


and for that I'll give a booming 9/10.
If they cast Ant man and The Wasp in the sequel then I would definitely give a sizzling 10!

Talent and skill

This is my first blog so i want to make this as fresh as a ripe fruit. Fresh in a sense that both I and all you readers can comprehend and relate in our most comfortable ways. Maybe fruit isn’t the appropriate object to use. Let’s make it oven fresh, so how about a cake? Everybody loves cakes! I like cakes! Do you like cakes too? Okay we get, we all love cakes.

But enough about the cakes, I no longer do pastries cause I’ve been avoiding them for as long as i can remember. Anyway, who knows how to cook? who knows how to bake? Which one of you guys define one particular thing you do as your talent and another as a skill?
Me? I’ll tell you something about my talent which I think It’s just a skill and a skill of mine which I think it’s my talent. Ain’t that confusing? No! of course you’re intelligent enough to understand that. Well, I’ll tell you something about art and what it is to me. 

I started to know how to draw since at the age of six. I don’t know how or why I had a sudden interest for it, maybe because I was exposed to cartoons too much or maybe mom and dad availed cable to get me interested in watching cartoons to make it a medium for me to know the English language. The heck I know? I was still little rascal back then.You can sue me for that. But the appreciation for art didn’t stopped there because art dwells everywhere, even in the waves of sea and  in the whispers of the wind.

Music was something else. I was never really a fan of music back then. But we all have our late realizations in life. Music was another definition to the world. You yourself couldn’t stop your mind from singing every time your favorite artist sings their songs on the radio. Even though you messed up the lyrics for as long as you had a great jam with the song, who cares? I bet you’ve realized something from what I’ve said and your starting to confess those times right now in your head. Did ya? I hope you did ‘cause I did the same thing too so yeah, we’re even. Cheers to that!
So I started from drawing until I know how to paint and win some contests at school. So would you consider that a talent? Because they say talent comes first then skill. Later then I met Mr. Music and he taught me his little ways to make another of his likeliness and I started making draft compositions. So is that my skill or is it still a talent? Neither of the two I can’t say that i’m “GOOD” with both. I still have a lot to prove,to ask and lastly to learn about them. . .

What if?

We all have dreams. We know what to dream and how to dream. Dreams are one of those things that God has granted us too keep us astonished. When we were still kids, we always think of something that will fascinate us and make us shake our heads off. I’m not talking about the dreams we role play in our minds every time we sleep. I’m talking about the dreams that will shape, twirl and twist our future. Some of us may follow those dreams and some some of us may also don’t. So I ask you “What if?” What if you chose your friends rather than your family? What if you chose to have a high-paying job rather that following a career in show business?What if just what if… We will never know unless we take one seriously.
I once had these 4 ambitions or should I say dreams. These dreams really made me say “That would be awesome!” What if i followed one of these dreams and made my chance? Would it change my life a lot? If so, how big? If not, will i worry enough? Questions, that’s all we have now… questions. Still, I’ll tell you something about them and how would they have been if they weren’t just my past’s longing reach.

Director. I couldn’t possibly be more astonishing if ever I’d become one. if ever I would though, I’ll direct a movie with an excerpt from the Holy Bible. I’ll base my story from the Book of Revelation. This is the only book in the Bible wherein I find it  both very interesting and very majestic. Do you think I’m gonna read and narrate it all back again? Ha! Think again. I still have some few tricks up my sleeves and I still need to put them all together to spice up the flavor of the flick. I’ll still put those elements we all adore back in there of course. What would a movie be like without it?

Author. We all have our stories to share. Honestly, i may be imaginative but I find it very difficult to imagine if I’m reading a novel. Maybe I wasn’t too exposed in reading books years ago. Maybe i was too busy watching Blue’s Clues or something. I don’t know, I was just thinking of possibilities. ( Duh… what else would I watch? Sailor moon? o.o ). It would be a sci-fi action themed story. It would concern around Einstein’s theories about matter, energy and light. You all know your physics just imagine that with a lot of kung fu and and guns. I know it sounds kindah edgy but there are other books out there with that kind of theme so I doubt that it wouldn’t be that original. Pardon me for that, thank you.

Cartoonist. I love cartoons, it brings out the wicked side ( in a good way, that is). The first time I saw an animated movie I was like “How the hell do they do that?!” It was even more interesting when I saw an animated movie but now in 3D. The first impression I was like “Nothing’s gonna get any better that this.” Shockingly, it does with more advance graphics and features. Computers really make good jack in the boxes nowadays. Can you agree more?

Musician. How about I spark up my life with it? We all love that groovy sensation when it starts crawling up on our bones. I planned some time ago that I will make a Youtube account of my own so could express everything there. Can you ask me how exactly am I going to do that? I don’t have my own personal computer. I don’t have a good video camera. i I don’t even own any musical instrument. So my thought on that would be a big wait. I can say it’s possible but problem is, I don’t have the precise amount of greens yet ,so shame shame…


… Whatever our dreams will be, they can either be just a part of our memory ready to be opened and shared or be a dream come true lived and walked upon with our very own feet.
